GISH Baseball Runs Away from Hastings 11-1

(Grand Island, NE) - The Grand Island baseball team easily dispatched Hastings on Tuesday, 11-1. GI got on the board in the second inning after Ethan Foley drew a walk, scoring one run. Grand Island then added one run in the third after GI scored on a wild pitch. Grayson Sack earned the win for the Islanders. They gave up one hit and zero runs over three innings, striking out five and walking three. Chance Vertin took the loss for Hastings. The starting pitcher went two and two-thirds innings, surrendering two runs (one earned) on three hits, striking out three and walking four. Ethan Coslor appeared in relief for GI who is now 3-1 on the season. 

Sam Dinkelman, Ryan Coslor, and Gage Gannon each collected two hits for Grand Island. Dinkelman and Coslor each drove in two runs for the Islanders. GI had patience at the plate, collecting nine walks for the game. Foley and Jacob Albers led the team with two walks each. GI was sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Gannon made the most plays with eight. Landon Hinrichs and Naz Robinson were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected one hit for Hastings. Nolan Hyde led the Tigers with one run batted in. Hyde led Hastings with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, piling up six walks for the game. Next up for GI will be a game against Lincoln Southeast on Thursday. Then Friday at Omaha Central.
