Debate yesterday at the state capital was dominated by a debate on medical marijana.
The Medical marijuana bill died in the Nebraska Legislature yesterday after supporters fell two votes shy to break a filibuster.
The legislation was introduced by Senator Anna Wishart, who has been a strong advocate for medical cannabis since being elected to the Nebraska Legislature.
The 31-18 vote came as no surprise, but the looming ballot measure could leave Nebraska with an uncharacteristically liberal medical pot law.
Last fall supporters of expanding cannabis in the state had more than enough signatures to place the issue on the ballot, but a last minute court challenge from the Secretary of State's office stripped the issue from the ballot for violating the states single subject rule.
